Postal Service to reduce jobs
The U.S. Postal Service will close offices, eliminate jobs and offer early retirement to workers in an effort to save more than $100 million U.S. annually. The agency is closing six of 80 district offices, while reducing administrative positions at the district level by 15 per cent, the service said. About 150,000 workers across the U.S. will be offered early retirement. More than 1,400 mail-processing supervisor and management positions at nearly 400 facilities around the country also are being eliminated. |
